 REPORTS TO Director of Creative Development

This position leads teams to build rich web experiences. Projects include web sites, games, RIAs, interactive banners, microsites, and jump pages for desktop, kiosk, and mobile platforms. The Creative Development Manager maintains technical ownership of the front-end portion of a project, and may oversee several projects under a client umbrella. It’s vital for the Creative Development Manager to reconcile the client’s overall marketing objectives with the proposed technical solution.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to define technical deliverable during project inception;
  • Work with Project Manager in developing project scope and schedule;
  • Help the creative and interaction design teams to flesh out a feasible solution that will fit in the defined schedule;
  • Coordinate with the Technical Manager for solutions that require a back-end component;
  • Participate in application architecture and technical design;
  • Manage development, ensuring timely and quality delivery;
  • Problem-solving in scripting, performance and optimization of Flash, Silverlight, or rich Web Development (desktop and mobile);
  • Work closely with back-end developers;
  • Work closely with art directors and designers to ensure that creative intent and results are achieved;
  • Coordinate internal development tasks;
  • Maintain development momentum across multiple projects;
  • Work closely with other Creative Developers and animators on projects ensuring peer-to-peer sharing of knowledge and practices;
  • Maintain high coding standards and practices and exercising quality control on all aspects of development;
  • Implement innovative techniques and features;
  • Research and innovate, participating in prototyping ideas;
  • Participate in interviewing prospective developer candidates;
  • Regularly meet with developers to evaluate performance and plan developer’s improvement strategy.

Requirements:

  • Verbal and written communication must clear, concise;
  • Expert attention to detail;
  • Experience in confidently leading a development team;
  • Comfortable creating and making presentations;
  • Mid level proficiency in one or more of these disciplines: Flash, Silverlight, and/or traditional Web development;
  • 4-5 years front-end development experience required with emphasis on programming;
  • BS in CS/IS or equivalent work experienced;
  • Must write clean, organized and optimized code utilizing industry standard conventions and design patterns;
  • Experience with game, application or web development;
  • Comfortable working with tight deadlines; must be proactive and able to multi-task;
  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming;
  • Experience with integrating with web services using standard protocols: REST, RPC, SOAP, etc;
  • Knowledge of some of the web technologies: Ruby on Rails, JSP, PHP, .Net, Unix, Web Services, Databases, Google App Engine will be advantageous;
  • Knowledge in working with social networking APIs: Facebook, Twitter, OpenSocial, etc;
  • Skilled in hand-coding HTML 5 /CSS and developing AJAX applications with object oriented JavaScript;
  • Ability to rapidly research and evaluate new technologies;
  • Good sense of motion and design is preferred.
